Harvest Church Service

Thank you to our growing group of Worship Leaders for leading a wonderful service to remind us that there is enough food and water in the world for everyone as long as we share it and are responsible with it.  They reminded us through the journey of carrots, why making wise and sustainable choices can make our world a better place – and of course, the importance of saying ‘thank you’.

Walk through the Bible with Year 6

This week, Year 6 have completed their walk through the New Testament with David Brown. In the last few weeks, they have learnt 40 key words and actions to help them to remember some of the stories and the children have been amazing! David actually said they maybe the best he has ever seen after they performed all the actions and words in our collective worship on Thursday.  The children were also presented with a certificate and a Walk through the Bible book, paid for by Church of the Ascension, containing the stories they have learnt about. Well done Year 6 – you filled us with pride – keep it up!

Class 5/6M Printing

As part of our art work leading up to finding out about the artist, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a busy Friday afternoon was spent creating a house monoprint. We did this by taking a section of our previous sketch of a house and using a viewfinder to enlarge it, before making a print. Well done 5/6M – some creative work!

Church Club

Church Club has returned. A familiar start with biscuits, craft, chat a prayer. Today’s story was The Lost Sheep.

Our first week in 5/6M

What a positive start to our new school year! Our work has been inspired by the book, ‘The Dot’, which is a story about aspiring higher, perseverance and resilience.  We have written poetry, created patterns in Maths with polygons in Year 6 (using dotted paper of course), used dots to represent co-ordinates in Year 5, explored the work of Kandinsky in Art and looked at growth mindset ready to start the year.

Another busy week in Years 5 & 6

Gymnastics with Josh

Continuing our art project – A Regatta on the Grand Canal in different styles of art.

Some of our Year 6s have been painting scenery and making props for our forthcoming production – can you guess what it’s about?

All this and ……we’ve even managed to harvest some vegetables!

A busy Thursday afternoon in 5/6M!

First, gymnastics with Josh from Dudley Gymnastics Club followed by setting up our own science experiments to investigate the growth of micro-organisms.

‘A Regatta on the Grand Canal’ art project

This week has seen the start of our art project using ‘A Regatta on the Grand Canal’ by Canaletto.  We started with a diamond 9 activity identifying what we considered to be the most important thing about art. We also tried sketching from memory in 3 minutes and even drawing with our less dominant hand. Where will this project take us next?
