We have had an amazing time, learning all about people who help us, our emotions, how to cross the road safely, Pantosaurus, water safety, online safety and how to keep our teeth sparkling clean. Then at the end of the week the children had their personal development time where they participated in an activity of their choosing. They had a fabulous time playing with lots of them. They noticed that many of the toys were made from wood. After a lot of fun and discussion they decided that they still prefer their own toys.

We can”t wait to see your creations. The children have been working really hard this week to achieve their first rainbow targets. Please reassure them that they will receive their treat and certificate next week.

In class, Reception thought about respecting themselves, others and the environment. They popped their ideas in a magic watering can and made a respect flower grow! They enjoyed making beautiful respect badges to show their grown ups.

They have made their families and teachers very proud. Their singing was beautiful, they remembered so many words to tell the story and danced like no-one was watching! They have certainly got us all in the mood for Christmas. Well done superstars!

6 months ago Posted on 07th Nov 2025 by Mrs E Hobson Chalky’s Birthday Today was Chalky the Church Mouse’s 5th birthday. The children have been so busy all week preparing for his birthday party. We made a to do list: wrap a present and write a tag make a birthday card make decorations make party food get a birthday cake get ready for party games The children worked hard to get ready for the party and then this afternoon we had a fantastic birthday celebration. It was heard several times that “THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!” Chalky is one lucky little mouse to have such amazing Ascension friends!
7 months ago Posted on 02nd Oct 2025 by Mrs E Hobson Our Wonderful Welcome Service On Wednesday the 1st October, Reception spent a wonderful afternoon at the church with their special grown ups. It was a chance to formally welcome all of our new Reception class to our school and church family. Some year 6 children recalled their memories of their time in Reception. Then the children received a beautiful Bible, as a gift to commemorate the occasion. We lit candles, sang a song and hung a small portrait on a tree so that the church congregation can hold the children in their prayers and thoughts. Finally, each child rang the bell as they left to signify the start of their school journey.

Everyone has settled really well into their reception class. Routines are established and all the children can navigate their environment. We are so proud of all the children. Just a reminder that school lunches can be ordered on Eduspot for next week and that children will be joining the rest of the school by starting at 8.50am and finishing at 3.20pm. Parents and carers, please remember to pop a morning snack into the blue book bag rather than in a lunch box. Have a restful weekend!
