Despite the cold, chilly weather, the children were full of energy and excitement, ready to explore and enjoy a fire-themed session with a sprinkle of Christmas magic. We started with a festive game of “Hunt the Elf on a Branch”, before giving the children the chance to light a fire themselves. They also enjoyed making their own Christmas deorations, adding a lovely creative touch to the morning. The favourites were in full swing – the mud kitchen, mud-pit digging, and den building kept everyone busy and happy. We finished the session by toasting marshmallows for s’mores and warming up with a hot chocolate.

3 months ago Posted on 21st Nov 2025 by Abigail Bate Experience Advent Year 2! Yesterday our Year 2 children enjoyed a visit to Church. The children learnt what advent means and why we celebrate it. Father Chris invited the children to discuss what joy is and what it means to them. He also related it to the Christmas story and the good news the angels shared with Mary. The children then wrote what joy means to them on a lollipop stick. Some other lovely ladies then worked with the children creating wreaths, stars and hand decorations and exploring their meanings within advent.
3 months ago Posted on 18th Nov 2025 by Abigail Bate 1/2B Forest school A very chilly day at Forest School today, but the children kept warm by keeping busy! They worked together on two fun tasks — building shelters for the birds and going on a scavenger hunt to find worms for them. There was plenty of mud fun too with the mud kitchen and the mud-pit den building. We shared the story of How the Robin got his Red Breast, enjoyed waffles with strawberries and blueberries, played a round of Sneaky Bob, and finished with a song. A cold day, but a lovely one!

3 months ago Posted on 14th Nov 2025 by Abigail Bate Christmas production Words to song Our Christmas play practice is well under way! Thank you so much to everyone who has been practising at home, please continue to practise as much as possible. If you would like to practice some of the songs at home, we have attached the lyrics here! We are looking at costumes next week and we will let you know as soon as possible what you will need to provide for your child. As you know, we have a great stock of costumes in school and we aim to provide every child with a costume so that you do not need too. If you would like to provide a costume for your child, this would be greatly appreciated, if it is something you then wish to donate to school, it then means that others will be able to make use of the costume for many years to come! If you child has not been provided with any lines to say, do not worry it may be because they are year 1 and will get the chance to have some lines in next years Christmas play! They will still have a part to play this year and will contribute with their singing and dancing skills! If you are unsure, please speak to your child’s teacher. Happy singing!

They had the opportunity to safely use a bow saw to cut their own wooden logs and used natural materials to create their very own Kindness Creatures. Alongside this, they enjoyed den building, experimenting in the mud kitchen, exploring the mud pit, and finishing the day by toasting bread over the fire and enjoying a warm cup of hot chocolate.
3 months ago Posted on 07th Nov 2025 by Abigail Bate All things Bonfire night! In year 1 and 2 we have been learning all about Guy Fawkes and the very local links to Holbeche house. When the plot was discovered and Guy Fawkes was arrested guarding the gunpowder in the cellars of parliament, the other plotters fled London. They rode north to Holbeche house in our very on Kingswinford! The survivors sought refuge there on 7th November 1605. It didn’t take long for the King’s men to find them and capture them! This has inspired our English lessons where we are beginning to think about Bonfire night poetry! Please share any pictures of Bonfire events over the weekend with us. We made poppy God’s eyes and poppy wood cookie necklaces to remember and reflect for Remembrance Sunday. There was plenty of muddy fun — digging in the mud pit and creating in the mud kitchen. We then toasted pancakes over the fire and enjoyed a warm hot chocolate before finishing off with our favourite game, Sneaky Bob!
