It was lovely to welcome our children back, on Tuesday.  Despite the wet weather, we have had a great week! This half term, our core value focus is perseverance and we have been thinking about what we can achieve before the end of the school year. It is great to hear so many children speaking with such determination about their targets and ambitions.

Well done to our gymnastics team who competed in the gymnastics competition.  Our football team showed great resilience when they played a friendly against Belle Vue, in the pouring rain.  Thank you to all of the children who have participated in this week’s competitive activities.

You should have received letters via email regarding the Parent Governor Election. We currently have two vacancies; nominations must be received by 12 noon, Monday 16th June.

We are very excited to announce that we will be holding an Isingpop
holiday club this summer!

Join us for the iSingPOP Holiday Club at St. Mary’s, Kingswinford, a fun
and faith-filled adventure for children aged 4-11! From Monday 4th to
Wednesday 6th August. 10am-3pm.

During the sessions, the children will create crafts, play games, read
Bible stories, and explore the dancing and engaging aspects of the
Christian faith through singing activities.

It’s the perfect summer experience to inspire imagination, build
confidence, and connect with their faith in a meaningful way!

Our sincere thanks to the Open the Book team, who led our Collective Worship, this week.  Pupils from 3N helped to re-enact the parable that Jesus told of the banquet.  The people who were invited to attend the party, refused – Jesus reminded the people to invite those who are worthy and will appreciate the feast.

It was great to be reminded that we are all included and invited.

As Ascension Day falls in half term, this year, our Collective Worship theme this week has been on the Festival of Ascension.  We have thought about how this is a very special time in the Christian calendar.

Children gave lots of creative ways to say goodbye.  Our favourites were toodleoo, ta-ra, see ya!  We considered that Ascension is a time when we think about Jesus saying goodbye and the instructions he left behind for his disciples.

Next week, we will celebrate Ascension Day, with church services, for the children and a day of sharing talents.

Thank you all for your very generous donations of bottles, in today’s non-uniform day.  We are very much looking forward to our Family Festival, after school, next Friday and are very grateful to the HSA and other volunteers for their hard work in organising and preparing. Today’s contributions to the bottle tombola, are a very positive start to what I am sure will be a very successful and enjoyable event. Details regarding the Family Festival and safe collection of children will be sent out separately.

During our VE Day commemorations, our children gave some very thoughtful and sensitive responses.  Their stone decorations were fantastic and made a wonderful display on the school playground.

What a great first week of the term, we have had!  There was a lot to celebrate in this morning’s Praise Assembly from both outside activities and from lessons. Well done to 5/6M for having the highest attendance, this week.

I had the pleasure of taking some of our School Council representatives to meet with the Black Country Food Bank, today.  Following our successful Harvest Festival collection, we were asked if we would support with the promotional materials for next year’s campaign. Thank you to our 3 pupils from year 5 who agreed to be filmed talking about food poverty and the importance and impact of the donations that we collect.

We are very much looking forward to the Spring Festival on 16th May.  Thank you very much to all of those who have volunteered to support with the event – it is very much appreciated. Further details will be sent out nearer the time regarding end of the day arrangements for collecting children.

At the end of what has been a fantastic term, we have had another busy week!  I very much enjoyed a visit to the farm, with our reception children.  We had a great day in the sunshine, learning about farm life and seeing all the baby animals.  Our reception children had a great time and were a pleasure to spend the day with.

Well done to our Year 4 tri-golf team who took part in a competition this week.  Thank you for representing our school so well.  Well done also to our netball team for your incredible win, this week!

Thank you all for your continuing support with managing rubbish and recycling in school.  Our children are being very responsible and resourceful in supporting school with its recycling commitment.

A date for your diaries – we have had to change the date of the Key Stage 2 Sports Day due to clashing commitments.  It will now take place for Key Stage 2 pupils on Tuesday 24th June.  Key Stage 1 Sports Day remains on Tuesday 1st July.
