Remembrance Day in 4C

On Tuesday 11.11.25, we learnt all about Remembrance Day as part of our History topic on WW1. We learnt about why it is important to remember, what the poppy represents and how people mark Remembrance Day each year.

We also got to create some poppies to decorate our classroom.

4C Lowry Art Work (Final Pieces)

This half term, we have been exploring the art work of LS Lowry. LS Lowry painted pictures of his local area (Manchester). Here is his painting titled ‘Going To Work’.

In 4C, we have been trying to create some art in the style of LS Lowry. We decided to create pictures of our local area, the village of Wall Heath. Here is a gallery of our incredible artwork:

Y3&4 Wild Zoo Experience

Today in Years 3 and 4, we had an exciting visit from some zoo keepers from Wild Zoological Park.

We got to see some animals: a snake, rats and an owl. They came to talk to us about how different animal skeletons and digestive systems work.

We also got to do a practical exploring how humans digest food.

4C Autumn 1 Music

This half term, 4C have been looking at soul music.

We have been learning to sing Lean on me by Bill Withers, find the pulse in a variety of songs and play along using out glockenspiels.

Here is some of our singing and glockenspiel playing to Lean On Me by Bill Withers.

4C Final Art pieces

To end our Take One Picture project, 4C have combined all the skills and media they have used over the half term to produce their final pieces. Each child made their own section which was joined together to create a whole class canal.

History detectives

In 5CS, we have been investigating Ancient Greek artefacts. What do you think they are? What do they tell us about life in Ancient Greece?

Year 5 Pandora’s Box

We have started to look at the Greek myth ‘Pandora’s Box.’ We completed a conscience alley to persuade Pandora to open or not to open the box.

4C’s Take One Picture Project

This half term, as a school we have been looking at The National Gallery Take one picture project. We have looked at the following artwork : A Regatta on the Grand Canal.

Here are some of our drawing challenges that we used to learn more about the painting. We had to : draw as much as we could in five minutes; draw as much as we could in five minutes without looking at our drawing and draw as much as we could in five minutes using our non dominant hand.

As a class, we decided there were lots of things we are excited to explore on the painting. The first thing we have looked at is the clouds. We had the chance to make clouds in three different ways: wax candles, sponges and bubbles. Have a look at our work.
