On Monday, Years 3 and 4 were treated to a visit from Lily who hosted a Stone Age workshop for the day. Our children were given the opportunity to handle and explore a wide range of Stone Age artefacts, try on Stone Age clothing and examine the evolution of human skulls.
They then became archaeologists, searching through boxes for signs of prehistoric life. Once items had been discovered, children had to identify if they were metal or not (using a metal detector) and then had to decide if they were from the Stone Age or a different time in history.
During the afternoon, the children became Stone Age hunters, practising the skill of archery. They also tried out Stone Age cave paintings using chalk and charcoal as well as making tools from wood, string and flint.
What a fantastic launch of our Stone Age History topic!
