Head teacher’s update
I have been incredibly impressed by some of the crazy and colourful hair, face paint and hats for today’s New Rules day. We have had a lovely day and I can announce that the fundraising winners who will be earning additional playtime next week are …..4C! Thank you all for your support with this event and with our continuing fundraising efforts. It is very much appreciated.
Father Chris led his final act of worship with us, on Monday. He will now be relocating to St Marks in Pensnett. Father Chris’s last church service will take place at 10am on Sunday – all are very welcome to join us.
Our termly Eucharist service will take place at 9am on Monday 15th June, at school. You are very welcome to join us, should you wish to share communion with us.
Next week, we will be celebrating our Praise Assembly on Thursday, as opposed to Friday. As always, we look forward to sharing best work, certificates and trophies.
Collective Worship
Thank you to Father Chris who led collective worship for us, this week. We are extremely grateful to Father Chris for agreeing to lead the assembly when we had no access to IT! Due to his relocation, this was Father Chris’s last assembly with us, at Church of the Ascension.
Father Chris led us in song, with his electric guitar, which we really enjoyed. We then explored our core value of perseverance and learnt about Daniel in the lion’s den. We learnt about how Daniel had found strength in his faith.
We wish Father Chris all the very best as he starts his new position, at St Marks and thank him for all of the care and support that he has shown us, in his time with us.

OSCAR Holiday Club
We will again be running the OSCAR holiday club during the first three weeks of the summer holiday – w/c 20/7, w/c 27/7 and w/c 3/8.
The holiday club provides a variety of activities for the children each day and is open from 7:45am – 5:30pm.
There will be no snack provided for the morning, but you are welcome to send in a healthy snack from home if you would like to. Just a reminder that we are a nut-free school so please no products that contain nuts, including spreads such as Nutella.
It costs £23 for the full day and is only open to children who currently attend our school.
If you would like to make a booking, please contact Jacqui the OSCAR manager by emailing jdavies@chur-ascen.dudley.sch.uk.
***Please note – on 3rd August the Animal Lady will be visiting and numbers will be restricted to 25 children on a first come first served basis***
3N Roman Roads
In English, we have have learning about instructions. Today, we worked in small groups to follow written instructions about how to make an edible Roman road. We discussed what written instructions needed to be and thought about how the instructions could be improved when we write our own.
Fantastic Phonics!
A huge congratulations to all of our children who completed their Phonics Screening Check this week.
We are incredibly proud of the effort, determination and perseverance they have shown throughout the year and this week. The children approached the check with confidence, resilience and a positive attitude, and they should all be very proud of what they have achieved.
Thank you to our families for their continued support in helping our children develop their reading skills and love of learning.
Well done, everyone – you are all superstars!
