Headteacher’s update
We have had a great first week back at school. It was lovely to welcome the children back, on Tuesday and hear all about the exciting things that they have been up to over half term.
Very well done to our gymnastics teams who competed in the Dudley finals! 6 teams competed from our school, which is a great representation. Thank you to all those involved.
I am so grateful for all of the support that we have had from our school community, in improving our school environment. Huge thanks to My Property Pros, Kingswinford for cleaning the outside of our building, including the canopies.
Thank you also to all of those who have helped with the weeding and planting. I am sure you will agree how lovely the front of school is looking with the flowers and tidy flower beds. We are very grateful for all of the help and support that we have received to help keep our school looking and feeling so great.
As explained in a previous letter, we will not have access to our email accounts from 10am on Friday until Tuesday 9th June. If there are any issues during that time, please call the school office on 01384 818760.
Collective Worship
This week’s focus has been on our last school value of the year, perseverance. Thank you so much to Amelia in Year 2, who painted us such a beautiful representation of our school values, over the holiday. Amelia has very kindly donated her painting to school – thank you!
We thought about how difficult perseverance is to spell, let alone fully understand. We thought about all the different ways that perseverance can be interpreted and what it might mean to us as individuals, as well as members of the Church of Ascension community. We looked at Paul the Apostle and were amazed to discover that Paul wrote 13 of the 27 books of the new testament. We learnt about the hardship that he faced and the adversity that he had to overcome. Paul’s teachings on faith, grace, and the transformative power of the Gospel remain central to Christian belief and practice.
New Rules Day
On Friday 12th June we will be holding a ‘New Rules Day’ to raise money!
Rules will cost 50p each with a maximum spend of £2.
The rules that children can choose to follow are:
Non-Uniform
Nail Varnish
Juice in Water Bottles
Sweet Treat for Snack
Wear Make-Up/Face Paint/Glitter
Crazy Hair Colour
Wear a Hat in Class
Children will need to choose which rules they want to follow on the day and bring in the amount of money needed, dependent on how many rules they choose.
The class who raises the most gets an extra 10 minutes of playtime!
We hope you can support us to raise money for school funds to spend on the children.
Missing Cardigan
Faith in Class 4C is missing a size 32″ cardigan which should have her name in it. We would be grateful if you could check at home to see if it has been brought back by mistake.
Thank you.
OSCAR Holiday Club
We will again be running the OSCAR holiday club during the first three weeks of the summer holiday – w/c 20/7, w/c 27/7 and w/c 3/8.
The holiday club provides a variety of activities for the children each day and is open from 7:45am – 5:30pm.
There will be no snack provided for the morning, but you are welcome to send in a healthy snack from home if you would like to. Just a reminder that we are a nut-free school so please no products that contain nuts, including spreads such as Nutella.
It costs £23 for the full day and is only open to children who currently attend our school.
If you would like to make a booking, please contact Jacqui the OSCAR manager by emailing jdavies@chur-ascen.dudley.sch.uk.
***Please note – on 3rd August the Animal Lady will be visiting and numbers will be restricted to 25 children on a first come first served basis***
