Head teacher’s update
We have really enjoyed all the lovely weather, this week and lots of opportunities to be outside.
Hopefully, you will all have received a letter from our Chief Education Officer, Vickey Shelley regarding the consultation with parents of a potential merge of our trust, Elements, with another Diocese Multi – Academy Trust, DOWMAT. We look forward to meeting with Vickey on Wednesday 20th May at 5pm, where she will give an over view of the potential merge and answer any questions that you may have. Please do let the school office know, if you are able to attend.
We are very proud to be able to work closely with Wall Heath in Bloom and are very grateful for all of their hard work and commitment to keeping our community looking so vibrant and colourful. They will be holding a plant sale on Saturday 2nd May, at 11am on the Co-op car park. This morning, we spoke in assembly about how lucky we are to have such a lovely environment to live in and asked that the children do not walk along the raised, walled garden area, that runs alongside Wordsley Carpets. Unfortunately, some of the plants have been trampled and had to be removed – your support with not allowing children to walk along the areas that plants and flowers are growing, is very much appreciated. Many thanks.
I hope that you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend and look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 5th May.
Collective Worship
Thank you very much to Open the Book, who hosted our assembly, on Monday. We enjoyed watching the team and some of our children acting out The Parable of the Two Sons (Matthew 21:22-28). We reflected on how the decisions that we make have an impact on others and the importance of making the right decision and sticking to it.
In Thursday’s assembly, we revisited the power of words and actions and how we can use them to inspire others. We thought about all of those who participated in the London Marathon and looked at some of the inspirational stories of those taking part. We thought about how brave some of the participants were and we were also in awe of the speed at which the winners managed to complete the course!
Class Photos
The photographer will be in school to take class photographs on Tuesday 5th May.
Don’t forget to bring your best smiles!

Dudley Schools Gymnastics Championships Success!
On Thursday, children from Years 1, 2, 3,4, 5 and 6 proudly represented our school at the Dudley Schools Gymnastics Championships. It was a fantastic day of competition, and our pupils shone brightly, demonstrating impressive skill, confidence and determination.
We are delighted to share that the children brought home a wonderful collection of prizes across a range of events. Their achievements were celebrated in today’s praise assembly, where they shared their certificates, medals and experiences with the whole school.
What stood out most was not just the results, but the qualities the children showed throughout the competition. Their resilience, perseverance and teamwork were evident in every routine, every practice, and every moment they supported one another. They represented our school with pride, positivity and true sportsmanship.
A huge well done to all of our gymnasts — we are incredibly proud of you.

Year 1 and 2 Reading for Pleasure in the Sunshine!
This week, our Year 1 and Year 2 children have been making the most of the beautiful weather by taking their books outdoors during lunchtimes and breaktimes. It has been wonderful to see so many pupils choosing to spend a quiet moment in the sunshine, enjoying stories, sharing books with friends, and discovering new favourites.
Encouraging a love of reading is something we value deeply, and the children have shown just how much joy a good book can bring!
We’re proud of their enthusiasm and delighted to see reading for pleasure becoming such a natural part of their day.

3/4JB Art Project
In our recent Art lessons, we have imagined that we lived in the Stone Age. We have utilised their painting techniques and even created our own “paint” using water, flour, crushed berries and spices!
We had to explore how we could change the consistency of the paint that we were working with, by either adding more water or flour. We then practised mark making and painting in our books.
4C French
Today, Madame Granger came in to teach us French. She taught us all about how to describe Paris and we even learnt how to read some French sentences.
Art in Year 1 and 2.
Our Year 1 and 2 children have been busy developing their artistic skills in their recent art lessons! This week they have been focusing on using line and shape to carefully sketch their very own penguins.
The children showed great concentration as they thought about how to create different shapes to build their drawings. They also began exploring shading techniques, learning how to add depth and texture to make their penguins look more realistic.
We are so proud of the effort and creativity the children have shown. Their finished artwork looks fantastic, and it has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as young artists!
Well done, everyone!
