Head teacher’s update
Thank you to all of those of you who were able to join us for the Key Stage 2 sports day. I am in awe of how well our children participated and supported each other. It was great to see all children taking part in a track and a field event. We hope that we are as lucky with the weather for next week’s Key Stage 1 event.
Well done to our cricket team who took part in the Sports Hall Athletics Cricket tournament, this week. Mr Bradley informs me that they had a great day and represented the school brilliantly. Well done to them on their bronze medals – very well deserved recognition of their determination.
Today, Mrs Peters held the trial of Goldilocks. Children in all classes have spent the week looking at the evidence and deliberating about Goldilocks’s innocence. This morning, a jury consisting of one child per class, gave their verdicts. With the exception of 1 class, the decision was that she was indeed, guilty of the crimes that she was accused of. Her punishment … 3 weeks community service!
Collective Worship
We were delighted to welcome Lindsey Brown to lead our act of worship, this week. Lindsey’s creative story telling and skilful painting brought the story of Bartimaeus to life. The Bible tells us that Jesus valued Bartimaeus, taking the time to listen and understand what his wishes were before curing him of his blindness. This reminded us all of how important and valued we are, as children of God.
Props for Key Stage 2 Production
If anyone has any plastic/wooden swords or bow & arrows that we could use for the Upper Key Stage 2 Production this year we would be very grateful! Please send them into school to Mrs Peters.
Thank you!

Was Goldilocks Guilty?

Summer Solstice in Forest School
Our forest was filled with sunshine, laughter, and learning as we celebrated the Summer Solstice – the longest day of the year!
We created our own beautiful sun catchers to honour the light and spent time making friendship bracelets for one another, strengthening our bonds and sharing kindness. To cool down, we enjoyed ice lollies and made sure to drink plenty of fluids in the summer heat.
The forest came alive with den building with den building, mud kitchen potions making, and energetic digging in the mud pit – pure joy and creativity everywhere you looked!
Year 1 were very enthusiastic while bug hunting, discovering shield bugs, beetles, a millipede, snails, and lots of ladybirds! One child even used a tree identification card to identify a tree by its leaves – what an amazing connection to the natural world.
Learning in nature helps us grow in every way – curiosity, resilience, friendship, and care for our environment.
Year 5 Pandora’s Box
We have started to look at the Greek myth ‘Pandora’s Box.’ We completed a conscience alley to persuade Pandora to open or not to open the box.
History detectives
In 5CS, we have been investigating Ancient Greek artefacts. What do you think they are? What do they tell us about life in Ancient Greece?
Our work on Gandhi – Year 1 and 2
In our History lessons, we have been focusing on the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. We have explored key facts about his life, including his early years, his leadership in the Indian independence movement, and his philosophy of non-violence. As part of our learning, we have written short retells to summarise important events and reflect on his impact on the world. This work has helped us better understand Gandhi’s values and how he influenced history through peaceful resistance. Have a look at some examples below…
Year 3/4J Forest School
Yesterday was full of teamwork, challenges, and muddy smiles!
Our year 3/4 adventurers worked in teams to build waterproof shelters, which were put to the test with a very enthusiastic watering can – some stayed dry, some not so much!
Fiona was impressed by a few of the children who successfully identified four different trees from their leaves.
There was plenty of imaginative play in the mud kitchen, and some serious digging going on in the mud pit!
Dens we’re built and expanded, and several games of shoe bingo were played. To top it off, the children toasted marshmallows to create delicious s’mores.
What a brilliant day of learning, laughter, and outdoor adventure!
1C’s Final Forest School Session
The children were amazing – so creative and full of energy. Using a bow saw, they each cut a small piece of wood to create their very own log dogs – and the designs were fantastic!
We had potions play galore, bubbling with imagination, and some serious muddy fun in the pit, where the children worked together to create a brilliant waterfall effect.
We also played a brand new game, ‘Where’s My Owl?’ followed by our all-time favourite, Sneaky Bob.
To top it all off, everyone enjoyed toasting marshmallows over the fire to make delicious s’mores, the perfect treat to end a wild and wonderful day!
A big well done to all the children for a fantastic year of exploring, learning, and getting muddy. I can’t wait to see what year 2 brings!
3N Art Project
We have enjoyed exploring the painting A Regatta on the Grand Canal and we have enjoyed looking closely at the boats, which we described as decorative, royal and detailed.
Today, we zoomed in more closely to look at the decoration and the swirl patterns. We used paint and black paper to print some of the patterns.
Here are some examples of our wonderful printing and designs using pens.
