Head teacher’s update

Thank you so much to Mrs Moore and the Worship Leaders who gave us such a positive start to Ascension Day.  Their act of worship at church was an excellent reminder of why some Christians celebrate the Feast of Ascension.  The theme of the act of worship was Samtsirch – Christmas in reverse.  While Christmas was about the arrival, or descent of Jesus, Ascension is about the ascent to heaven.  Thank you also to choir who supported with the wonderful singing that made us all feel so uplifted and ready for the day.

The rest of the day has been spent in celebration of talents and interests.  I am overwhelmed and so impressed by what a talented bunch the children are at Church of the Ascension.  We have been treated to displays and demonstrations as well as very informative presentations.  These have ranged from artwork, football, dancing, science experiments, triathlons, magic tricks, comedy to soldering, to name but a few! It has been a wonderful day, sharing and celebrating each other’s talents and interests.

I wish you all a very happy half term holidays and look forward to seeing you all when the children return to school on Tuesday 3rd June.

Collective Worship

Our sincere thanks to the Open the Book team, who led our Collective Worship, this week.  Pupils from 3N helped to re-enact the parable that Jesus told of the banquet.  The people who were invited to attend the party, refused – Jesus reminded the people to invite those who are worthy and will appreciate the feast.

It was great to be reminded that we are all included and invited.

After school clubs

The after school clubs that Mr Bradley runs and also choir and church club can be found on the school website under the Parents Area ‘Clubs’ section.

This should be updated each week so please check to see what might be happening after school that your child would like to attend.

Year 1 and 2 Peacock Art

Art and Design

The peacock is the National bird of India. It’s certainly one of God’s most beautiful creatures, and the children have made these wonderful pictures. We followed a step by step drawing tutorial, as well as instruction on using oil pastels to bring the peacocks to colour. Some of our drawings can be seen below…

Celebrating Ascension Day

Thank you Worship Leaders for kicking off our Ascension Day celebrations with a fabulous church service this morning.  Also, a big thank you to our choir who lead us in amazing song as always.

Year 5 and 6 cricket success!

Our Year 5 and 6 cricket squad took to the field at Stourbridge Cricket Club in the Dudley competition.  Four successive victories saw the squad play a tense final against Colley Lane.  Batting second, our squad just came up 6 runs short of winning despite a flurry of boundaries by our batters.  Well done, team, you played with skill, determination and with a great sense of fairplay!
