Head teacher’s update

A huge thank you to the year 2 and 3 pupils who have volunteered this week to help to keep our school site clean and tidy.  They have given up their own social time to pick up litter from the playground and paths.  We appreciate the dedication that they have shown to respecting our school site.

Well done to all of the children who have participated in BikeAbility.  Feedback from the team is that children are listening carefully and following instructions to keep themselves and others safe.  Well done and we look forward to hearing how the children participating next week, get on.

Thank you for attending parents’ evening, this week. It was a pleasure to see so many of you.

Collective Worship

This week I shared one of my favourite picture books with the children, ‘No Matter What’ by Debi Gliori.  The story introduces us to the characters of Large and Small and reminds us that we are loved, no matter what, even when we are tired and grumpy. We reminded ourselves of the term Agape, which means the highest form or love, God’s love.  For Christians, this type of love is a constant and unconditional support and comfort.

OSCAR Holiday Club

We will again be running the OSCAR holiday club during Easter for the first four days of the holiday 30th March to 2nd April.

The holiday club provides a variety of activities for the children each day and is open from 7:45am – 5:30pm.

There will be no snack provided for the morning, but you are welcome to send in a healthy snack from home if you would like to. Just a reminder that we are a nut-free school so please no products that contain nuts, including spreads such as Nutella.

It costs £23 for the full day and is only open to children who currently attend our school.

If you would like to make a booking, please contact Jacqui the OSCAR manager by emailing jdavies@chur-ascen.dudley.sch.uk.

We would like to support Amelia and try to help her break the UK record. If your child would like to bring in a birthday card for Amelia, they can put it in the post box in the Key Stage 2 library and we will use this as a collection point. Please send any cards in by Friday 6th February. Thank you for your help.

The Toy Museum

This week , Reception children have been learning about what toys from the past were like.  They had a fabulous time playing with lots of them.  They noticed that many of the toys were made from wood.  After a lot of fun and discussion they decided that they still prefer their own toys.

Year 1 and 2 Seascape Art

Our Year 1 and 2 children have created wonderful seascape artworks. They began by sketching their scenes and then used watercolours to bring their ideas to life. To finish their pieces, the children added colourful card curtains, giving the effect of looking out at a seaside view.

We are very proud of their creativity and hard work!
