Head teacher’s update

We have all enjoyed the warmer, sunnier weather, here at Church of the Ascension. We continue to be very grateful to the year 5 and 6 pupils who support with positive play at break and lunchtime.

Our week started with a fascinating assembly by Lindsey Brown from New Life Church, who used art to bring a Bible story about forgiveness, to life.  We look forward to Lindsey visiting us again, next term.

A production of ‘Treasure Island’ was a very exciting way to end our week.  We all enjoyed the theatrical performance – thank you to the HSA for funding this Friday afternoon treat.

We had a lot to celebrate again in Praise Assembly, this morning, with many trophies and certificates from home.  It is great to see our children participating in such a variety of activities, out of school.  There was a theme of Perseverance beads being awarded for tackling challenging maths, this morning. It is great to see so many children thinking hard about their work.

A quick reminder that we are all invited to Soul Food on Tuesday 25th March:

Collective worship 17.3.25

We were delighted to welcome Lindsey Brown, to lead our assembly, this week.  Lindsey uses her talents in painting to tell stories from the Bible.  This week, we focused on the value of Forgiveness and Lindsey told the story from Matthew Chapter 18.  We learnt about the servant who had been given forgiveness and mercy but was not then able to pass these values on.  Our children and staff thoroughly enjoyed watching the story come to life, through Lindsey’s art work.

A big thank you to the West Bromwich Building Society for teaching us about Money Matters. Our key message is save, save, save!

We’re taking notice for our wellbeing!

Our Wellbeing Buddies theme for this half term is ‘Take Notice’.  Some of you have been taking notice of your local environment – well done!

If anyone has any photos to share or inspire us, please send to hmoore@chur-ascen.dudley.sch.uk.

Spring is in the air

After learning about World War 2 rationing in history last term, we decided to have our own allotment area to grow some vegetables. The children will be planting and caring for a selection of vegetables and combining their knowledge of street art to make the area more attractive. Keep up to date with our progress.

Target Games

Our PE Lessons

The children have been developing their understanding of the principles of defending and attacking for target games. They have been using both underarm and overarm throwing techniques with the challenge of extending the distance and aiming for a specific target.

See our photos below…

3N Brass Lesson

3N have been enjoying music lessons with Mrs Tobin from DPA. They have been working really hard to play their brass instruments and learn to read music. They are all excited to share the pieces they have learnt for you during a concert very soon.
