Our school SENCO is Miss A Jones
The needs of our pupils will be identified at the earliest possible stage and every effort will be made to maximise potential for learning. At Church of the Ascension, we aim to give equal opportunities to children of all abilities including those who find learning a challenge, or those who have a physical, social or emotional difficulties. We believe that a child may have difficulty in one curriculum area whilst being able in another. All children deserve the opportunity to succeed and improve according to their aptitude and ability in whatever area of the curriculum. We strive to provide an Inclusive Education for all.
We raise aspirations and expectations for all pupils, including those pupils with SEND by working in close partnership with parents/carers and listening to pupils. We work closely with partnership agencies to ensure that children at Church of the Ascension receive targeted, high quality support, which is relevant to their needs so that all are able to become independent and successful learners.
If you ever have any concerns about your child, please do have a chat with their class teacher.

Black Country ASC Support Guide
Black-Country-ASC-Support-Guide-January-2025
Welcome to the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trusts Autism Support Guide
for CAMHS.
We acknowledge that it can sometimes seem confusing where to access support and
advice with regards to Autism. There are organisations locally, and nationally, offering
specific support for children and young people on the ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions)
Pathway. Many of these services are accessible without a formal diagnosis.
Whilst you are waiting on the ASC Waiting List, you might find some of these resources
useful for your young person, yourself and your family network.
Please note, having access to this resource does not mean your child has received a
diagnosis. This document has been created to offer a directory of supportive services and
helpful information whilst waiting for an assessment.
We have included resources for different topics, please read through and look at any
resources you feel would be beneficial for your young person and family.

Did you know that in many instances, you have the legal right to choose where you receive your NHS
treatment? The NHS is increasingly providing more options, allowing you to make choices that best fit
your needs and circumstances, giving you more control over your care and, ideally, better outcomes.
If you live in England, you now have a legal right under the NHS to choose your mental healthcare provider
and team, including for referrals related to Autism and ADHD assessments.
This service is available through the NHS and is free of charge
