School Meal Price Increase

Thursday 10th April 2025
Dear Family
Following many discussions between the Trust and AIP, we are writing to inform you of an upcoming change to school meal prices after the Easter holidays. Starting from Monday, 28th April, the cost of a school meal will increase to £2.65.
This adjustment reflects increases in National Insurance and the minimum wage, which have impacted overall costs. We understand the challenges that family budgets face and have worked hard to keep this increase as minimal as possible while continuing to provide nutritious and high-quality meals for our children. To further support this, we have used feedback from parents, carers and children and collaborated closely with AiP to design new menus that we hope will appeal to children’s tastes while meeting national nutritional standards. These menus are available to view on the school website and we hope you will have a look at them with your child.
We would also like to remind you that all children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are entitled to a daily school meal, free of charge, under the Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM) scheme. We strongly encourage parents of children in these year groups to take advantage of this provision. There is no requirement to register, simply book a meal using the school meal ordering system.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Yours sincerely
Mrs L Mason

Recycling Legislation

Tuesday 1st April 2025
Dear Family
Re. Simpler Recycling Legislation
From next week there is a change in legislation which means that organisations such as school are required to sort more of their waste for recycling. Whilst I am sure that we all applaud this move, it coincides with Dudley Council, who used to collect our bins, withdrawing this service for schools and a delay before our new provider can begin.
As from the beginning of April, the school will need to have a number of bins for specific waste.

This is going to mean a change for pupils, staff and visitors. We have been advised that if bins are contaminated with the wrong waste, they may not be collected and if this is repeated, the school may be liable to a fine.
As a school, we have a lot to do to ensure that we are all fully educated about these changes. The children will be spoken to in lessons and in assemblies and posters will be displayed around school.
Due to the changes in our approaches to managing waste in school, from next week, all children bringing a lunchbox into school are required to bring their rubbish home, rather than being able to dispose of it in school.
We would welcome your support by talking to your child about these changes.
Yours sincerely
Mrs L Mason

Minority Instrument Project

Please see this amazing opportunity from Dudley Performing Arts:-

Amazing Minority Instrument Project – 9 free instrumental lessons!

Dear Parent/Carer,

Starting after Easter 2025 we have an amazing opportunity for any KS 2 pupil to learn what are known as minority instruments. These are instruments usually found in an orchestra that are dwindling in number – cello, double bass, oboe, bassoon, euphonium and tuba.

Over the next 9 weeks we will run beginner group lessons on a Monday or Tuesday at our music base at Cable Plaza on the Waterfront near Merry Hill. Each lesson will last for 25 minutes. The children will all be beginner students and learn how to play a musical instrument in a fun, relaxed group environment. All the instruments will be provided, and they will be able to bring their instrument home every week to allow them to practice and try new things!

Sessions will take place on the days and times below, starting from the week beginning 28th April. Spaces will be limited and allocated on a first come first served basis. To take up this fantastic offer please click on this link and complete the necessary information.
