Head teacher’s update
It was great to see so many of you at parents’ evening, this week. Thank you for bearing with us, as we ran over timings in many classes. There is so much to talk about, already and so early in the school year!
Having launched Black History Month, last week, it was great to spend an afternoon with our year 5 pupils, talking about and celebrating diversity. I was amazed by the thought and sensitivity that went into to the children’s responses and thoroughly enjoyed my time with class 5CS. Mr Bradley and I are very much looking forward to hearing about the work going on in all of our other year groups.
We are very much looking forward to the school discos, on Tuesday 14th October. Thank you to the HSA for organising the event which will really help to raise money for school funds.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
Collective Worship
This week, we were treated to one of Lindsey Brown’s special painting assemblies. Lindsey told us the story of Ruth Naomi and Boaz. As she told the story, the painting came to life. In our weekly reflections, we considered ways in which we can be sharing and caring towards each other. Many of the children reflected that giving someone your time and attention is a good way to show how much you care.

Harvest 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
The time for our annual harvest festival is fast approaching. We will be visiting Church where our Worship Leaders will lead our services. Key Stage 1 children will visit Church at 9:30am, with Key Stage 2 children following on at 10:00am.
Our School Council have again chosen to support the Black Country Food Bank.
Black Country Foodbank helps vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of 3 days emergency food supplies while a longer-term solution is developed. The services they provide have an enormous impact on the people who use them, giving them an important breathing space at a time of great need.
Items donated will be packaged up and collected by the Foodbank service directly. Out of date items, or items containing alcohol, cannot be accepted. The Black Country Foodbank website lists items that are needed particularly at the moment. A copy of the current shortages is attached to the bottom of this letter. Items can be brought into school from Monday 13th October. Our donations will be collected on the Monday 20th October, so please, no more donations after this date.
As always, we thank you in advance for sharing donations with our chosen harvest festival charity.

Connecting Together
This week at Forest School was all about connection – with nature, with each other and with ourselves. We explored, collaborated, cooked delicious apple crumble outdoors, and even mastered a bit of fire lighting.🔥 It’s amazing what happens when you slow down and let the woods do the teaching. 🌿
Year 1 and 2 Dance Lessons
In our Key Stage 1 Dance PE lessons, children explore movement, rhythm, and expression through fun and engaging dance activities. Each lesson encourages creativity as pupils learn to move to music and to copy and create simple dance sequences.
Dance helps build coordination, balance, and confidence, while also supporting teamwork and listening skills. Whether they’re pretending to be animals, exploring space, or dancing to a seasonal theme, children enjoy being active in a joyful and imaginative way.
Autumn Changes
As part of our seasonal learning some children have been busy designing and building their very own bug hotels! Linking science, design, and our learning about autumn habitats, children explored the types of animals that might need a safe place to shelter as the weather gets colder.
Using natural materials collected at home and in school – such as sticks, leaves, pinecones and bark – the children created inviting spaces for bugs to rest and hide.
