Summer Solstice in Forest School

Our forest was filled with sunshine, laughter, and learning as we celebrated the Summer Solstice – the longest day of the year!

We created our own beautiful sun catchers to honour the light and spent time making friendship bracelets for one another, strengthening our bonds and sharing kindness. To cool down, we enjoyed ice lollies and made sure to drink plenty of fluids in the summer heat.

The forest came alive with den building with den building, mud kitchen potions making, and energetic digging in the mud pit – pure joy and creativity everywhere you looked!

Year 1 were very enthusiastic while bug hunting, discovering shield bugs, beetles, a millipede, snails, and lots of ladybirds! One child even used a tree identification card to identify a tree by its leaves – what an amazing connection to the natural world.

Learning in nature helps us grow in every way – curiosity, resilience, friendship, and care for our environment.
