Head teacher’s update
We are very much looking forward to seeing you at the Family Festival, this evening!
Very well done to our year 6s who have been fabulous all week, during their SATS tests. We are so proud of their resilience and behaviour, during what is always a challenging week. Thank you, year 6.
We will be celebrating Ascension Day with our usual Festival of Talents day, on Friday 23rd May. A letter with further details will follow, but we look forward to all that the children wish to share with us.
Thank you for your ongoing support with attendance. This week, we have joint class winners for the attendance award – well done to 1C and 5/6M for your 99% attendance!
Collective Worship
As Ascension Day falls in half term, this year, our Collective Worship theme this week has been on the Festival of Ascension. We have thought about how this is a very special time in the Christian calendar.
Children gave lots of creative ways to say goodbye. Our favourites were toodleoo, ta-ra, see ya! We considered that Ascension is a time when we think about Jesus saying goodbye and the instructions he left behind for his disciples.
Next week, we will celebrate Ascension Day, with church services, for the children and a day of sharing talents.
Ascension Day
Friday 16th May 2025
Dear Family
We are very much looking forward to celebrating Ascension Day on Friday 23rd May. Children will attend church during the morning for an act of worship led by our Worship Leaders. We are then inviting the children to share their talents and interests with their classes. This might be a club or activity that they participate in outside of school or an interest or hobby. We are very much looking forward to learning more about what the children enjoy.
Children will attend school in their uniforms but are welcome to bring in any uniforms/ kits to change into and bring any equipment needed, on the day. Children may also wish to prepare a short talk or presentation.
This is not a competition but an opportunity to celebrate each other’s talents and interests.
Kind regards
Mrs L Mason
Experimenting with materials – bend, twist, stretch and squash
Science
In science this week, the children have been experimenting with whether materials bend, twist, stretch or squash. The children worked in table groups with a plastic bottle, a sponge, a pair of socks, a pipe cleaner, a straw and plasticine to see which materials could be changed.

Years 5 and 6 Macbeth Project
Year 5 have worked hard this week beginning their Macbeth project in English. Great job, Year 5! Year 6 have joined in today – we can’t wait to see your Macbeth work!
