Head teacher’s update
We have had another busy and productive week, at school. It was great to see so many of you who were able to attend the ‘Meet the Teacher’ meetings.
A polite request – please could adults collecting the children not stand on the grass opposite the school office, when collecting from the year 4,5,6 exits. We ask the children not to stand or walk on this grass in an effort to preserve it, now that the grass has regrown following such a dry summer.
The Home School Association, AGM will now be taking place on Tuesday 22nd September at 8pm and will be online. If you would like to receive the link for the meeting, please request from info@chur-ascen.edlt.org.uk New members are very welcome to attend. We look forward to planning events and activities for the coming year.
Thank you all very much for your support in ensuring that all of our children are kept safe by ensuring the snacks and lunches do not contain any nuts.
Collective Worship – Creation
This week, we started our “Bible in a Year” journey. We started at the beginning – a very good place to start. In our Collective Worship, we explored Genesis 1-2 – the story of Creation. We explored the 7 creation events and how everything that was created was ‘good’ until God created humans, which was ‘very good’. Christians believe that this shows the importance of God’s relationship with us. We looked at pictures representing the story of Creation and thought about ways in which we can be good stewards of God’s wonderful world.
5/60 Dance- PE
This week in PE, class 5/6O have been exploring dance and developing their creative movement skills. The children worked collaboratively to create their own dance sequences using a range of actions, including extend, travel, kick, slide, tilt, ripple, jump, fall and twist.
As their confidence grew, the children also explored different dynamics, thinking carefully about how movements could be performed in different ways to add expression and interest to their dances. They experimented with making movements slow, robotic, pulsing, fluid, sharp and explosive, helping them to communicate different ideas and emotions through movement.
To celebrate their hard work, the children had the opportunity to showcase their dances to the class. It was wonderful to see so much creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm, with many pupils choosing to perform and share their routines. We are very proud of the effort, confidence and imagination they demonstrated throughout the unit.
KS1 News and Celebrations
This week, all of our Year 1 children have been thoroughly enjoying spending time in their continuous provision areas. A particular highlight has been our fantastic new role play resource, a wonderful wooden frame that can be transformed into a variety of exciting role play environments.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Harbach family, who kindly designed, built and donated this amazing resource for our school. The children absolutely love using it and it has already inspired lots of imaginative play, creativity and collaborative learning. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and support.
We are always delighted to see members of our school community sharing their skills and talents to enhance our children’s learning experiences. If any parents or family members have ideas, expertise or resources they would like to contribute to school, we would love to hear from you.
We would also like to say a big well done to our gymnasts this week, who received the Gymnast of the Week medal from Dudley Gymnastics Group. This is an award that will continue to be presented each week, and recipients will have the opportunity to share their achievement during our Friday Praise Assembly.
As a reminder, if your child has received any medals, trophies or certificates from activities outside of school, we would love to celebrate their successes with them. Please bring these into school on a Friday so they can be shared during assembly.
