Hot weather plan:
Due to the expected heat wave, I wanted to write to you to let you know that we will be postponing the Key Stage 2 Sports Day. We will be in touch shortly regarding rescheduling the event.
We will also be taking the following measures:
School uniform –
Children will be sent home with their PE kits, tomorrow so that they can wear them for the remainder of the week, if it is more comfortable for them, while the temperatures are so high, next week. If your child has their PE kit at home currently, they can wear them to school as of Monday 22nd June and for the duration of the hot weather.
Hydration –
Please ensure that your child has their water bottle in school. Children will have their water bottes on the tables throughout the day and teachers will ensure regular whole class opportunities to re-hydrate. We have cooled water dispensers in school so the children will be able to refill their bottles, frequently throughout the day.
Sun exposure –
Please ensure that children have long – lasting sunscreen applied prior to coming to school and have a hat with them. We will be limiting the amount of time that children are exposed to the sun and will shorten breaks accordingly. We will not be going to the field where there is minimal shade.
