2S Forest school

Despite a few hiccups with cancelled sessions this half term, Year 2 have embraced Forest School with enthusiasm and made the most of every moment outdoors.

This week we finally completed our Imbolc candle project. The children loved painting their clay pots, then carefully filling them with soy wax to create their very own candles – a lovely, calm and creative activity. Using the charcoal pencils they made in the previous session, the children also spent time drawing.

Forest School wouldn’t be complete without a bit of mud! There were big smiles on the mud slide, lots of imaginative play as potions were whipped up in the mud kitchen, before enjoying toasted bagels and brioche bread with a warming cup of hot chocolate.

We ended the session reading the story of The Earth Candle and our much loved Forest School song.
