What a wonderful way to end our Forest School journey! For our final session, we spent time reflecting on finding joy in nature. The children were set a special challenge: to quietly observe and discover three things that bring them joy in our Forest School. The answers were as beautiful as the setting itself — from the sound of birds singing, to blossom on the tree, to the tiny details of minibeasts hiding beneath logs. It was a lovely reminder of how much happiness nature can bring when we slow down and truly notice it.
With it being our last session, we also enjoyed using tools to create wonderful wooden projects — from imaginative cars to brilliant “log dogs”! The creativity and teamwork on display were incredible. The children demonstrated growing confidence, resilience and pride in their designs.
Of course, there was plenty of time for child-led exploration too — mud kitchen masterpieces were whipped up, deep digging took place in the mud pit, and some impressive dens were constructed
.
It has been such a joy to watch Year 2 grow in confidence, independence and curiosity over our Forest School sessions. Their imagination, kindness and adventurous spirit have truly shone through.
