Snow Day

Here’s a snowy challenge for you on your snow day. Can you build a snowman taller than you? Take a picture and email it to school.  We can”t wait to see your creations.  The children have been working really hard this week to achieve their first rainbow targets. Please reassure them that they will receive their treat and certificate  next week.

Wellbeing Buddies

Our wellbeing buddies have had their final meeting of the year and have decided on a new focus for the next term which is ‘giving’.  We reflected on our successes from this term and have made some great suggestions for next term.  Well done, Buddies!
Also in the new term, our wellbeing buddies will be working with our new educational mental health practitioner, Hayley, for some training in their important role.  We will introduce Hayley officially to all children and parents in the new term – exciting times!

First week at school …… smashed it!!

Well done to all our little superstars this week.  Everyone has settled really well into their reception class.  Routines are established and all the children can navigate their environment.  We are so proud of all the children.  Just a reminder that school lunches can be ordered on Eduspot for next week and that children will be joining the rest of the school by starting at 8.50am and finishing at 3.20pm.  Parents and carers, please remember to pop a morning snack into the blue book bag rather than in a lunch box.

Have a restful weekend!

EYFS and KS1 Reading Evening

Dear Parents and Carers,
We are excited to invite you to a Reading Evening specially for parents of children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 from September 2025. This will be held on Tuesday 9th September at 6.30pm. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our new reading scheme and find out how you can support your child’s reading journey at home. We will also share the reading expectations for each year group and answer any questions you may have. We really encourage you to attend, as your involvement plays a big part in helping your child become a confident and enthusiastic reader. Please complete the attached form to let us know if you’ll be joining us. We look forward to seeing you there!
Regards,
Miss N Slater

Pirate Day

RECEPTION CHILDREN

Dear Parents/carers,

We are hoping to round off our topic with a fabulous pirate activity day.  If possible, we would like the children to come dressed as a pirate on Tuesday 15th July.

Suggestions for costumes could be:

Stripy t – shirt

Shorts

Trousers tucked into boots

Eye patch

We would prefer that accessories such as swords and hooks be left at home that day!

Many thanks

Reception Parents

As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we have ‘Book Wish List’ boxes in school where children can write the name and author of a book that they would like us to buy for their class book corner. Could we ask parents of Reception children if they would like to write these for their children and send them into school with them?

Thank you for your support.

Science Week 10th March

Dear Parents,

Reception will be celebrating British Science Week (week beginning 10th March).  We will complete our dinosaur topic with a number of science – based activities.  To make this a fun week we would like to ask the children to bring in a scientist outfit to wear when we complete our experiments.  This could be something as simple as an old white shirt with sleeves rolled up and a pair of safety goggles.  Please send this in on Monday 10th March in a carrier bag with your child’s name on.  Historically, our science week has been a huge success and the children really engage in the activities and dressing up just adds another element of fun.  If you would like to find out more about British Science Week use the web link below where you can download activities to do at home to should you wish to.

World Book Day 2025

To mark World Book Day on Thursday, March 6th this year, we aim to celebrate reading, which is always at the forefront of our curriculum, with an exciting range of events designed to inspire our students to read for pleasure. Our goal is to spark a genuine love for reading by encouraging every child to discover new titles and explore different genres.

Throughout the day, each class will engage in various reading-related activities, offering plenty of opportunities for students to enjoy stories in fresh and fun ways.

As always, there is no expectation to spend money! We will be hosting a Book Swap Station where children can bring in one book they no longer need and exchange it for one they have never read before. To take part, all we ask is that the book your child brings is in good condition and free from any markings or writing. This is a fantastic chance for students to refresh their bookshelf and enjoy a new adventure in reading!

For more details, be sure to check out our website and Facebook posts for updates on our World Book Day events. Thank you for your continued support as we celebrate the magic of reading together.
