Have a look at what our children have been doing in school recently:-

Henry VIII

Children in Years 3 & 4 have been enjoying their ‘Royal Rascals’ topic and were very excited to have a visit from Henry VIII!

They learned all about his life including his favourite past times and his many wives! The children also took part in a jousting competition which was one of Henry’s favourite sports.

World Book Day 2019

To celebrate World Book Day, children across the school enjoyed dressing up as characters from their favourite book.

The Queen’s Visit

As part of their ‘Bright Lights, Big City’ topic children in Years 1 & 2 have been learning about London and the Queen and were honoured to have a visit from ‘Her Majesty’!

The children wore their finest clothes, the red carpet was rolled out and a wonderful afternoon tea was prepared by the children.

They incorporated Design & Technology, Science, English and Maths through various tasks:

Growing cress under different conditions

Preparing egg and cress sandwiches

Grating cheese and cutting cucumber for sandwiches

Writing instructions on how to make sandwiches

Writing questions to ask the Queen

Drawing bar charts of favourite sandwich fillings

The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit and the ‘Queen’ had a most marvellous time too!

Remembrance 2018

The children have been commemorating the centenary of the end of the First World War. During a special assembly the children shared their writing based upon the war and produced some poppy-inspired artwork. They also decorated jars to make candle holders which were lit to provide a moment of reflection for us all.
